Oil prices surged more than 2% on Monday after US forces struck two Iranian launchers on Iran's Larak island in the Strait of Hormuz. The attack, which occurred on Sunday, marked the first known American strikes on the Gulf nation since late July.
Brent crude futures rose $2.22 to $90.32 a barrel by 2202 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate crude climbed $2.01 to $85.41 a barrel.
