Oil Prices Soar on Fears of Middle East Supply Disruptions
Oil prices reached their highest in three weeks on Thursday, driven by concerns over supply disruptions from the Middle East. Brent crude futures for October delivery rose to $92.82 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures for September climbed to $86.75 a barrel.
The price increase was largely due to tensions between Iran and its neighbors in the region. The UAE has suspended all financial and economic transactions with Iran until further notice, which is expected to tighten oil supply.
Analysts at UBS and Nissan Securities Investment agree that uncertainty over peace talks and tensions involving the UAE, Oman, and Iran will maintain a gradual upward trend for oil prices.
