Oil Prices Soar on Tightening Supplies and Paused OPEC Production
Oil prices have made a significant rebound in early trading on Wednesday, rising by over $2 per barrel as US crude stocks decline. The Brent crude futures price climbed to $86.80 per barrel, while the US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained to $81.95 per barrel.
The sudden increase is attributed to a significant drop in US crude oil inventories, which fell by approximately 3.3 million barrels during the week ended July 24. This decline reinforces expectations of stronger demand and tighter supply in the market.
OPEC+ is likely to pause planned oil production increases for three months beginning in October, adding further support to prices. The organization has completed the scheduled return of output previously curtailed under voluntary production cuts.
