Oil Prices Soar Toward $100 as Iran Escalates Conflict
Oil prices have been climbing toward $100 per barrel as hopes for peace in the Middle East continue to fade. The latest development came when Iran's Supreme National Security Council secretary, Mohsen Rezaei, issued a warning to the United States, saying 'economic warfare will be met by a maritime exclusion zone across the Persian Gulf to the blockade perimeter.'
Iran has also fired a new, advanced missile at U.S. warships in the region, further escalating tensions. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for oil tankers, is becoming increasingly challenging due to Iranian actions.
Oil prices are up as a result, with Brent crude trading at $97.66 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate at $93.05 per barrel. Analysts are predicting that the crisis may extend into 2027, revising their oil price forecasts accordingly.
