Oil Prices Surge as US-Iran War Tensions Escalate
Oil prices have risen in recent days due to concerns that the ongoing US-Iran war could disrupt oil supplies from major Middle Eastern producers. The latest peace deal between the two countries expired this week, with neither side making efforts to resume talks. As a result, crude oil prices have climbed, with Brent futures reaching $93.82 per barrel and WTI futures hitting $86.78 per barrel.
The US President Donald Trump has also threatened economic retaliation against countries supporting Iran, further increasing tensions in the region. The United Arab Emirates has suspended all financial and economic transactions with Iran until further notice, highlighting the strained ties between major Gulf Arab oil producers and Tehran.
Analysts expect that if disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz continue for three months, Brent prices could reach around $114 per barrel. However, Goldman Sachs forecasts a more optimistic outlook, predicting that Middle East tensions will eventually ease and Brent prices to average $80 per barrel in the fourth quarter.
