Oil Prices Surge Toward $100 on Supply Disruption Fears
Oil prices are nearing $100 per barrel as concerns about renewed supply disruptions grow. Brent crude, the global benchmark, has surged to a seven-year high of nearly $95 per barrel. The price increase is attributed to ongoing issues with Russian oil exports and the looming specter of Iranian sanctions.
Major banks such as Goldman Sachs and Bank of America have increased their oil price forecasts due to these supply concerns. Goldman Sachs now predicts that Brent crude will reach $105 per barrel by year-end, while Bank of America expects a high of $110.
However, some analysts caution against overestimating the impact of these disruptions on global oil supplies. They argue that major producers such as Saudi Arabia and the US have ample spare capacity to offset any supply shortfalls.
