Oil-Producing Countries Dominate Africa's Cheapest Petrol Prices

The cheapest petrol prices in Africa are found in oil-producing countries, according to data from GlobalPetrolPrices. As of September 21, 2026, Libya had the lowest price at N32 per litre, followed by Angola and Algeria.

Libya's cheap petrol is due to its massive oil reserves and production levels, which make up more than 90% of government revenue. The country pumps about 1.3 to 1.4 million barrels per day.

Angola ranked second with a petrol price of N433 per litre, while Algeria occupied the third position with petrol selling at N465 per litre. Egypt had the fourth lowest price at N615 per litre, followed by Sudan and Tunisia.
