Oil Surges Over 2% as Gold Prices Plummet Amid Fed Rate Concerns
Oil prices surged more than 2% on Tuesday, driven by signs of a recovery in crude exports from the region. The Brent crude futures price reached $107.44 per barrel, while December futures rose to $99.87 per barrel. US crude futures also increased, reaching $94.50 per barrel.
Meanwhile, gold prices held steady on Tuesday but remained at a more than seven-week low due to concerns that the Federal Reserve may keep interest rates higher for longer. Spot gold was little changed at $4,124.57 per ounce, while US gold futures fell 0.3% to $4,156.70.
Other metals also saw declines, with spot silver falling 0.6% to $60.62 and platinum slipping 1% to $1,699.86. Palladium lost 0.5% to $1,209.08.
