Oman Oil Output Soars 11.9% in First Eight Months

Oman's oil production has seen a significant increase in the first eight months of 2026, rising by 11.9% year-on-year to 270 million barrels. This growth is attributed to higher output levels, which have helped drive a sharp acceleration in economic growth during the second quarter.

The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) released data showing that total oil production increased from 241.3 million barrels in January-August 2025. Average daily production climbed by 10.9% to nearly 1.111 million barrels per day, compared with 1.002 million bpd a year earlier.

The realised price of Omani crude rose by 15.5% to $83.3 per barrel during January-August, compared with $72.1 a barrel a year earlier. The petroleum sector emerged as the main driver of growth in 2026, with value added from the sector rising 14.7% to RO3.413 billion.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) noted that Oman's economy remains resilient despite regional tensions and is expected to record stronger growth in 2026, supported by increased oil and gas production and prudent macroeconomic policies.
