Oman Postpones Meeting on Strait of Hormuz Amid Regional Tensions

Oman has postponed a meeting between Iran and Gulf countries to discuss the future of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil and gas flows. The meeting was set to take place on Monday in Salalah, but Oman's Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said it would be rescheduled to create 'conditions conducive to a constructive dialogue'.

The Strait of Hormuz has been at the center of a wider war in the Middle East, with Iran and the US engaging in a blockade since February 28. The US Navy has periodically bombed the Iranian coastline to challenge Tehran's control over the strait.

Oman and Iran have been discussing how to manage the waterway, with Iran requiring vessels to obtain permission and considering imposing service fees on ships that pass through.
