Oman Seeks Alternative LNG Routes Amid Hormuz Disruption

Oman's energy minister has called for alternative routes to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments. Salim al-Aufi said that 'let's identify alternative export options' at the Gastech conference in Bangkok on Monday.

The disruption to the Strait of Hormuz has been ongoing due to months of conflict in the Arabian Gulf, affecting LNG shipments. The Strait is a major conduit for global supply, with Adnoc Gas Plc considering a new LNG export facility outside the waterway as a possible solution.

Oman currently operates one LNG export plant on its eastern side that doesn't rely on Hormuz, providing an alternative route. Al-Aufi also stated that the situation at the Strait of Hormuz should stabilize in the medium term.
