Oman's oil exports and production surge in 2026
The Sultanate of Oman saw a 1.9% increase in its total oil exports by the end of August 2026, reaching 209 million barrels. This marks a rise from the 205 million barrels exported during the same period in 2025, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
Oman's oil production also experienced significant growth, with a total of 270 million barrels produced by the end of August 2026. This represents an 11.9% increase compared to the 241.4 million barrels produced in the corresponding period of 2025. The average daily oil production rose by 10.9%, reaching 1.1 million barrels per day, up from 993,300 barrels per day the previous year.
On a monthly basis, oil production in August 2026 reached 36.3 million barrels, slightly higher than the 35.8 million barrels in July and 34.4 million barrels in June. Oil exports in August amounted to 27.1 million barrels, compared to 26.7 million barrels in July and 25.7 million barrels in June.
The average price of Oman oil increased by 15.5% during the first eight months of 2026, reaching USD 83.3 per barrel, up from USD 72.1 per barrel in the same period of 2025. However, on a monthly basis, the average price in August dropped by 22.5% to USD 79.1 per barrel, down from USD 102 per barrel in July.
In the natural gas sector, total domestic production and imports rose by 6.4% by the end of August 2026, reaching 40.5 billion cubic metres, compared with 38.1 billion cubic metres in 2025. Gas consumption at power generation plants grew by 13.8%, while consumption by industrial projects increased by 4.9%. Gas consumption in oil fields rose by 1.5%, but consumption in industrial zones declined by 32.6%.
