Oman's Oil Exports and Production Surge in 2026
Oman's oil exports saw a modest rise in the first eight months of 2026, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The country exported 209 million barrels of oil, marking a 1.9% increase from the 205 million barrels exported during the same period in 2025. Oil production also surged by 11.9%, reaching 270 million barrels, up from 241.4 million barrels the previous year. Daily oil production averaged 1.1 million barrels, a 10.9% increase from the 993,300 barrels per day recorded in 2025.
Monthly production figures showed a steady increase, with August producing 36.3 million barrels, up from 35.8 million in July and 34.4 million in June. Oil exports followed a similar trend, totaling 27.1 million barrels in August, compared to 26.7 million in July and 25.7 million in June. The average price of Omani oil rose by 15.5% to $83.3 per barrel during January, August, compared with $72.1 per barrel in the same period in 2025. However, the monthly average price dropped by 22.5% to $79.1 per barrel in August, down from $102 per barrel in July.
In the natural gas sector, total domestic production and imports increased by 6.4% year on year to 40.5 billion cubic metres in the first eight months of 2026. Gas consumption at power generation plants rose by 13.8% to 11.7 billion cubic metres, while industrial projects saw a 4.9% increase to 19.9 billion cubic metres. Consumption at oil fields grew by 1.5% to 8.7 billion cubic metres, but consumption in industrial zones declined by 32.6% to 126 million cubic metres, compared with 186.9 million cubic metres during the corresponding period in 2025.
