Oman's PPI Skyrockets 32.7% in Q2 Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
Oman's Producer Price Index (PPI) rose by 32.7% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). This increase is attributed to a 31% rise in mining and quarrying prices, driven primarily by a 31.9% surge in crude oil and natural gas prices.
The manufacturing sector saw a significant jump of 40.3%, with other transportable goods experiencing a massive 55.3% price hike. Within this group, refined petroleum products skyrocketed by 88.2%, followed closely by chemical products at 21.4%. Prices for metal products, machinery, and equipment rose by 31.7%, with iron, steel, or aluminum products leading the way at 48.9%.
The food, beverages, and textiles sector saw a modest increase of 2.8%, with footwear prices jumping 6.7%. Water prices rose by 4.4%, while electricity prices increased by 13% during the second quarter of 2026 compared to 2025.
