OPEC+ Agrees to Keep Oil Production Steady Amid Iran Conflict
Seven major oil-exporting nations have agreed to maintain their current production levels in November. The decision comes as the ongoing conflict with Iran has pushed benchmark Brent crude oil prices above $100 a barrel. The OPEC+ subgroup, which includes Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman, will reassess the market conditions on November 1.
The war, which began with U.S. and Israeli attacks on February 28, has significantly disrupted global oil supplies, contributing to the rise in prices. Meanwhile, the Group of Seven wealthy democracies announced plans to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products over the next few months, starting with a “substantial” amount of diesel within the next 20 days.
Diesel prices in the United States have recently hit record highs, impacting farmers, truckers, and consumers who rely on the fuel. The G7’s release aims to alleviate some of the pressure caused by the supply disruptions and rising costs.
