OPEC+ Freezes Oil Production Amid Global Market Uncertainty
OPEC+, the organization of major oil-producing countries, has decided not to alter its current oil production policy for October. This decision was made after a meeting of the seven main OPEC+ member countries: Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan, and Oman.
The announcement comes at an uncertain time for the global oil market, as the ongoing war with Iran has limited exports through the Strait of Hormuz. As a result, OPEC+'s influence on prices and supply is currently restricted.
In August, the group had approved a production increase for September, aiming to gradually remove previously imposed cuts of 1.65 million barrels per day set for 2023. However, actual production remains below target due to supply constraints and war-related disruptions.
