OPEC+ Hikes Oil Output for Sixth Straight Month Amid Disruptions
OPEC+ members have agreed to increase oil production by 188,000 barrels per day in September, marking their sixth consecutive monthly hike. This decision aims to restore supply to a market strained by global conflicts, particularly those affecting Iran and Ukraine.
The rise is largely symbolic due to ongoing disruptions, but it provides major producers like Saudi Arabia with more flexibility to increase output once regional flows normalize.
Despite this increase, ExxonMobil and Chevron warn that gasoline and diesel prices will likely remain elevated because global refining capacity remains constrained, limiting relief for consumers.
