OPEC+ Holds Oil Production Steady Amid Market Tensions
OPEC+ has decided to keep its oil production targets unchanged for November, following an online meeting of its seven key members. Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan, and Oman participated in the discussion, with no major adjustments expected until next year. The group is maintaining production cuts of around 2 million barrels per day for most members, despite current market tensions.
The oil market remains volatile due to ongoing conflicts, particularly the war involving the US, Israel, and Iran. These disruptions have affected exports and kept Brent crude prices above 100 dollars per barrel. In August, the seven main members produced about 25 million barrels per day, which is still 5 million barrels below pre-war levels.
In Romania, the impact of these global dynamics is evident in fuel prices. At the start of October, gasoline averaged 10.08 lei per liter, while diesel cost 10.94 lei. The next OPEC+ meeting is set for November 1, when production levels for December will be reviewed.
