OPEC+ Keeps Oil Production Steady Amid G7 Diesel Release Plan
Seven major oil-exporting nations have agreed to maintain their current production levels in November. The decision was made on October 4 by the OPEC+ subgroup, which includes Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman. The group will reassess market conditions on November 1.
The move comes as conflict with Iran, which escalated after US and Israeli strikes on February 28, has disrupted global oil supplies. This disruption has pushed the price of benchmark Brent crude oil above $100 per barrel.
In response to rising oil prices, the Group of Seven (G7) announced plans to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products in the coming weeks. The G7 emphasized a "frontloaded substantial release" of diesel within the next 20 days, with the remainder to be distributed over the next four months. Diesel prices in the United States have recently hit record highs, impacting farmers, truckers, and consumers who rely on the fuel.
