OPEC+ Keeps Production Steady as G7 Plans Oil Release
Seven major oil-exporting countries have decided to maintain their current production levels for November. The OPEC+ subgroup, which includes Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman, will reconvene on November 1 to assess the oil market conditions further. This decision comes amid rising oil prices, driven by the ongoing conflict with Iran, which began with U.S. and Israeli attacks on February 28. The disruption in global oil supplies has pushed the price of benchmark Brent crude oil above $100 per barrel.
The Group of Seven (G7) wealthy democracies announced plans to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products in the coming weeks. The G7 emphasized that substantial amounts of diesel will be released within the next 20 days, with the rest to be distributed over four months. Diesel prices in the United States have reached record highs, impacting farmers, truckers, and consumers who rely on the fuel.
