OPEC+ maintains oil production amid Iran conflict and high prices
Seven major oil-exporting nations have decided to maintain their current production levels for November. The agreement was reached by the OPEC+ subgroup, which includes Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman. The decision comes as the conflict with Iran, which began on February 28, has disrupted global oil supplies and pushed the price of Brent crude above $100 a barrel.
The OPEC+ group will reassess the market conditions during a meeting scheduled for November 1. The ongoing fighting with Iran has contributed to the surge in oil prices, prompting the Group of Seven (G7) wealthy democracies to take action.
The G7 announced plans to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products in the coming weeks. The initial phase will focus on releasing substantial amounts of diesel, with the rest to be distributed over the next four months. Diesel prices in the United States have recently hit record highs, affecting farmers, truckers, and consumers who rely on the fuel.
