OPEC+ to Hold Production Steady as G7 Releases Diesel Reserves
Seven major oil-exporting nations have decided to maintain their current production levels through November. The OPEC+ subgroup, including Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman, will reassess the situation on November 1. The decision comes as conflict with Iran has pushed Brent crude oil prices above $100 per barrel.
The ongoing fighting, which started with U.S. and Israeli strikes on February 28, has disrupted global oil supplies, contributing to rising prices. The Group of Seven (G7) nations responded by announcing plans to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel products, with a focus on diesel, which has reached record highs in the United States.
The G7 has pledged to release a 'frontloaded substantial release' of diesel within the next 20 days, with the remainder to be distributed over the following four months. This move aims to ease the burden on farmers, truckers, and consumers who rely heavily on diesel fuel.
