Oregon Gas Prices Refuse to Budge Amid Crude Oil Price Drop
Oregon drivers are continuing to feel the pinch at the pump despite a recent drop in crude oil prices due to a pause in hostilities between the U.S. and Iran, according to AAA.
The national average for regular gas rose by 8 cents to $4.10 per gallon, but Oregon saw an increase of only 7 cents, leaving its price at $4.64 per gallon, which is higher than the national average.
The Portland metro area has the highest price per gallon at $4.73, followed closely by the Medford-Ashland area, where gas costs an average of $4.62 per gallon.
AAA's Marie Dodds explained that crude oil prices are lower this week due to eased tensions in the Middle East, but volatility remains a concern and could lead to further price increases if shipping traffic resumes in the Strait of Hormuz.
