Gas prices are higher in 45 states this week but Oregon is one of five states to see a small week-over-week decline. The national average price for regular gas has jumped 15 cents to $4.48 per gallon, while the Oregon average slips two cents to $5.10 per gallon.

The previous high prices for the national average in September were reached in 2023 at $3.86 per gallon. This year's national average is now at its highest price ever for this time of year, with Oregon's average also reaching an all-time high for this date in September.

Crude oil prices have dropped below $100 per barrel on hopes of renewed diplomacy in the Middle East and reports that Saudi Arabia's critical East-West pipeline would be restarted soon. However, crude prices are still significantly higher than before the conflict began and remain volatile due to ongoing geopolitical tensions.
