ORLEN Bolsters Ukrainian Energy Security with Multi-Million Dollar Deals
Naftogaz Group and Polish energy company ORLEN have strengthened their partnership to boost Ukraine's energy security. The two companies signed memoranda during the Carpathian Eight Summit, which include delivering three liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes in the first quarter of 2027.
The additional volumes could help Ukraine meet demand during periods of peak seasonal consumption if needed. Naftogaz acting CEO Sergii Fedorenko emphasized the importance of having reliable sources of gas supply and diversified delivery routes amid ongoing Russian attacks on domestic production facilities.
ORLEN and Ukrnafta, part of Naftogaz Group, signed a memorandum that provides for supplies of petroleum products to the Ukrainian market worth up to $500 million. This arrangement would strengthen the stability of fuel supplies amid what Naftogaz described as a global oil crisis caused by events in the Middle East.
The companies also explored supplying Ukrainian crude oil to refineries in Central Europe for processing and discussed transferring used fuel tanker trucks to Ukrnafta for transporting petroleum products. ORLEN has expressed interest in expanding its presence in Ukraine, including potentially acquiring a stake in Ukrnafta.
