Pakistan Restricts Gas Supplies Amid Ongoing LNG Disruptions
Pakistan's domestic gas supply is being rationed due to uncertainty over liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports from Qatar. Household gas supplies are restricted to key cooking periods because the system lacks sufficient gas to maintain round-the-clock supply.
According to officials, gas is currently supplied for three hours in the morning from 6 am to 9 am, three hours around lunchtime from 12 pm to 3 pm, and three hours during dinner time from 6 pm to 9 pm. This measure is linked to limited gas availability and competing demand from the power sector.
The situation is connected to ongoing disruptions in Qatar's LNG supply chain following attacks on energy infrastructure in the region. Pakistan has faced difficulties securing regular LNG cargoes through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for Qatari shipments.
