Pakistan Seeks Wheat Imports Amid Black Sea Export Halt
Pakistan has issued a tender to import 185,000 metric tons of wheat, and several trading houses have submitted bids. The lowest price offered was $339.36 per metric ton, cost and freight included, in an assessment by European traders. Trading house Bunge is believed to have submitted an offer for around 60,000 tons.
The tender comes at a challenging time for importers, as fighting has halted seaborne Black Sea exports of cheap Russian and Ukrainian wheat, making alternative sources more expensive. This situation contrasts with a previous tender by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), which bought 365,000 tons at $348.83 per ton c&f in an earlier bid seeking up to 750,000 tons.
The TCP is still considering the offers and has not announced any purchase decision yet, according to traders. A decision is expected in the coming days. The tender details reveal that several trading houses submitted bids, with prices ranging from $339.36 to $354.83 per ton c&f.
