Pakistan Threatens to Activate Collective-Defense Pact with Saudi Arabia and Turkey

Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif warned that if Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia continue, the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement could become operational.

The agreement, signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in August, treats an attack on any one of the three countries as an attack on all.

Asif said that 'unprovoked aggression or spillover of whatever is happening in Yemen into Saudi Arabia will definitely make this agreement operational.'

The Houthi attack on Tuesday injured 73 civilians, including women and children, and ignited fires at oil facilities in the kingdom's south.
