Pakistan Transporters Threaten Nationwide Strike Over Fuel Price Hikes

Pakistan's transporters are preparing for a nationwide strike over the recent hike in fuel prices. The Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance, led by Malik Shehzad Awan, has warned that a strike can be called at any time due to the frequent price increases. The alliance views the government's decision to revise fuel prices daily as an 'anti-transport policy.'

The new pricing mechanism was introduced on July 21, amid rising international crude oil prices. According to Awan, many road freight businesses are facing closure due to the frequent hikes in diesel prices.

Pakistan's refiners are reportedly seeking alternative crude oil supplies from non-Middle Eastern producers, such as the U.S., Nigeria, Singapore, and central Asia, amidst concerns over supply disruptions from the Middle East.
