Pakistan's Exchange Rates and IMF Talks Stall Amid Macro Stability Concerns
The National Bank of Pakistan's (NBP) Treasury & Capital Markets Group released an Exchange Rates Bulletin on October 2, 2026. According to the bulletin, foreign exchange rates in Pakistan are as follows: 1 USD = PKR 230.95, 1 EUR = PKR 244.15. The finance minister stated that if macro stability and reforms hold, Pakistan could regain its B+ rating by the end of FY27.
The IMF has appreciated Pakistan's handling of oil shock without supply disruptions. However, talks between Pakistan and the IMF have hit a deadlock over fuel subsidy and PKR 1.4 trillion gas receivables. The SECP proposes raising microfinance and housing loan limits to PKR 5 million.
