Pakistan's Government Imports One Million Tonnes of Wheat Amid Rising Prices

The federal government of Pakistan has decided to import one million tonnes of wheat to bridge a supply-demand gap in the country's staple grain market.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain confirmed the decision, stating that it aims to fulfill demands from provincial governments.

The move is intended to stabilize wheat and flour prices across the country, which have been steadily rising.

Average wheat prices in Pakistan currently stand at Rs 4,611 per 40kg (Rs. 115 per kg), with province-wise prices ranging from Rs. 4,423 in Punjab to Rs. 5,100 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
