Paknejad Resigns as Iran's Oil Minister
Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has stepped down from his post on October 4, according to Seyyed Mehdi Tabatabaei, Deputy for Communications and Information of the Presidential Office.
Paknejad's resignation was accepted by President Masoud Pezeshkian, who then appointed Hamid Bovard as acting Minister of Petroleum under Article 135 of the Iranian Constitution.
Bovard, a former Deputy Oil Minister and Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), will take over the ministry on an interim basis. Paknejad had been in office since August 2024, receiving parliamentary approval with 222 votes at the time.
