Paknejad Resigns as Iran's Oil Minister Amid Economic Pressures
Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has stepped down from his position after serving since August 2024. The government initially did not provide a reason for his departure, but President Masoud Pezeshkian accepted his resignation and appointed Hamid Bovard as the acting oil minister.
Bovard is currently the chief executive of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), a state-run entity. Paknejad's resignation comes at a time when Iran is facing economic pressure due to ongoing conflicts with the United States and disruptions in the oil and energy sector.
