Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has signed a three-year drilling deal with Weatherford to drill 274 wells in Marmul and the Greater Saqar area. The agreement aims to support higher production and better operational efficiency, with Weatherford handling oil production and water injection wells through a phased program.

The deal is expected to lower costs by roughly 20 percent relative to conventional pricing models, while also tightening cost control and establishing clearer accountability for execution and results.

PDO's Director General, Dr. Aflah Said Al Hadhrami, stated that the company's capacity to grow production efficiently and responsibly is central to extracting value from the Sultanate of Oman's hydrocarbon resources.

Girish Saligram, Chief Executive Officer of Weatherford, said the contract demonstrates the company's dedication to operational excellence, innovation, and sustainable value creation.
