A shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplied by Saudi Aramco to Petrobangla has been rejected due to non-compliance with safety and berthing requirements. The cargo, carried by the 29-year-old Liberian-flagged vessel Alhamra, was not unloaded at Summit's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Maheshkhali.

The Alhamra arrived on August 11 carrying around 61,000 tonnes of LNG. Deen Mohammad, general manager (LNG) at Petrobangla, stated that the vessel did not meet the required standards for acceptance.

Petrobangla officials said the rejected shipment would be replaced with another cargo and LNG supply would continue through other scheduled shipments. 'It could not meet our standard requirements for acceptance, which is why it could not be accepted,' Deen Mohammad said.
