Petrobras Secures Long-Term LNG Supply from Port Arthur Terminal
Petrobras has entered into a long-term agreement to purchase Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from US company Sempra Infrastructure. Under the terms of the deal, Petrobras will buy 0.8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG for 20 years.
The LNG will be supplied by the Port Arthur LNG Liquefaction Terminal in Texas, USA, which is currently under construction by Sempra Infrastructure. This terminal has access to US natural gas resources and integrated logistics infrastructure.
Petrobras stated that securing long-term volumes helps reduce its exposure to spot market volatility, strengthens the risk management of its natural gas portfolio, and enhances its ability to fulfill contracts with greater flexibility and security.
