PetroChina's Xilaifeng LNG Factory Resumes Operations After Years of Suspension
PetroChina's Wuhai Huayou Natural Gas Co., Ltd. has successfully completed a technical renovation project at its Xilaifeng LNG factory in Inner Mongolia, China.
The project, which lasted for many years, aimed to shift the facility from construction to trial production phase and revitalize idle assets.
The Xilaifeng LNG factory, located in the Xilaifeng Industrial Park, Hainan District, Wuhai City, had been suspended for over 10 years due to insufficient supply of coke oven gas.
To solve this problem, PetroChina planned a transformation plan and launched a pipeline natural gas direct liquefaction technical renovation project with an investment of 219.51 million yuan.
The project involved the construction of new facilities, replacement of existing equipment, and upgrades to core machinery, including a cold box, feed gas pressurization unit, and decarbonization and dehydrocarbonation unit.
A total of 2.8 kilometers of industrial gas supply pipelines were laid, supported by 3.0 MPa gas transmission facilities, ensuring a stable gas source for the factory.
The facility is scheduled to officially commence operations on August 28, 2026, with an annual LNG output of approximately 250,000 tons and the ability to process 1.2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
