Petrojam Monitors International Oil Markets, Maintains Secure Fuel Supply
Petrojam, Jamaica's sole oil refinery and primary distributor of refined petroleum products, says it is keeping a close eye on international oil markets despite continued volatility. The company assures that Jamaica's fuel supply remains secure due to its existing logistics arrangements with suppliers in the US, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Brent crude was trading around $104 per barrel on Friday, while West Texas Intermediate hovered just above $100. Petrojam purchases crude oil for refining operations and imports finished petroleum products to supplement local production.
The refinery has already secured crude oil for several months of production and has long-term supply agreements in place for refined petroleum products. This, along with having a minimum two- to three-week supply of fuel on hand, supports the sustainability of Jamaica's energy security.
