PETRONAS LNG Set for Asian Demand Growth with New Sabah Plant
PETRONAS LNG Ltd (PLL) is poised to capture growth in Asian liquefied natural gas demand, thanks to its diversified supply portfolio and expanding production capacity in Malaysia. The company's chief executive officer, Ezran Mahadzir, said PETRONAS' integrated LNG portfolio provides the flexibility and reliability required by Asian buyers.
The company has a new plant in Sabah scheduled for commissioning next year, which will add two million tonnes to its supply. This will enable PETRONAS to serve different Asian markets, with demand growth expected in mature markets like Japan, South Korea, and China. However, LNG demand is also growing in Southeast Asia, although the region faces challenges in infrastructure development.
Ezran said PETRONAS' experience as an integrated energy company enables it to support partners across the LNG value chain. He emphasized that the company takes a long-term view when making investment decisions and believes its diversified portfolio will enable it to manage short-term market volatility.
