Petrovietnam Partners with Technip Energies for Energy Development
Petrovietnam's research arm, Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), has formed a partnership with Technip Energies to advance energy development in Vietnam. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 17, outlining their cooperation in research and development, focusing on offshore projects, the liquefied natural gas value chain, and energy transition.
The MoU establishes a framework for collaboration between VPI and Technip Energies, covering research, consultancy, and engineering activities. Key areas of cooperation include carbon capture, utilisation, and storage; hydrogen and ammonia production; gas monetisation and LNG value chain development; optimisation of offshore exploration and production; refining and petrochemical integration; digital transformation; and advanced engineering solutions.
VPI's general director, Nguyen Van Tu, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating that Vietnam and Petrovietnam are accelerating research and development to support the sustainable development of the energy industry. Basil Theckumpurath, managing director of Genesis Energies Malaysia, a business unit of Technip Energies, noted that the MoU provides a foundation for strengthening joint research, technology transfer, and project development in Vietnam.
