Pezeshkian's Promises of Stability Fail to Convince Amid Rising Gold Prices

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian is trying to reassure his citizens that negotiations with the United States will bring stability, but his message is not convincing everyone. The country is facing economic strains, reflected in rising gold prices and movement toward inflation-resistant assets. Despite the president's claims that the agreement does not involve surrender, households and investors remain unconvinced.

According to Pezeshkian, the 14-point memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US is a framework for ending the war and opening broader negotiations. He argues that its implementation could reduce the risk driving capital and investment away from Iran. However, his message was met with a different tone by Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, who warned that if the US continues its economic war, no oil will be exported from the Gulf states.

The price of gold in Iran has jumped nearly 6% in two days, and money is shifting away from conservative savings. Wages have not kept pace with rapidly rising living costs, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the country's economic future.
