A tour of the Piedmont Natural Gas liquefied natural gas facility in Huntersville revealed that the storage tank holds approximately 12.2 million gallons of LNG.

The facility's plant manager, Tony Bridges, led the tour on July 22, 2026. He was accompanied by Ryan Smith, general manager of gas storage redelivery and optimization, Jason Wheatley, spokesperson for Piedmont Natural Gas, and Bill Norton, spokesperson for Duke Energy.

The tour showed a water glycol heater building at the facility. The tank is used to support a proposed Duke Energy combined-cycle power plant across the Yadkin River in Davie County. A similar plant proposed in Davidson County would include 2 to 3 tanks of the same size.
