Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) has taken delivery of its latest LNG-powered containership, Kota Elan. The vessel was handed over by Chinese shipbuilder Hudong-Zhonghua in Shanghai on Monday, a remarkable 233 days ahead of the contractual delivery date.

The addition of Kota Elan marks the third containership delivery for Hudong-Zhonghua this year and is part of PIL's broader fleet renewal strategy. The new vessel features an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system, including Hudong-Zhonghua's independently developed 12,000-cbm type B LNG fuel tank and fuel gas supply system (FGSS).

With a maximum container capacity exceeding 13,000 teu and the ability to carry 2,200 reefer containers, Kota Elan is designed for long-haul voyages. The ship's range exceeds 22,000 nautical miles in gas mode, making it an efficient addition to PIL's fleet.
