PNG Drive 3.0 Aims for 50 Lakh New Connections
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched the National PNG Drive 3.0 to accelerate the adoption of piped natural gas across India.
The campaign, which runs from October 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, aims to increase natural gas' share in India's primary energy mix from around 6 per cent at present.
Puri said the drive will focus on activating dormant connections, making full use of existing gas distribution infrastructure, and expanding PNG coverage in semi-urban and rural areas. It also targets bringing new consumers onto the network.
The government has set a target of 50 lakh new domestic PNG connections, converting 40 lakh inactive connections into active users, and registering another 50 lakh domestic PNG consumers under PNG Drive 3.0.
