PNGRB, EESL Partner for Large-Scale Deployment of Smart PNG Meters in India
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has partnered with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to accelerate the deployment of smart domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) meters across India's City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), PNGRB will provide regulatory and sectoral support, while EESL will undertake demand aggregation for domestic PNG smart meters.
The initiative aims to address concerns related to accuracy, revenue assurance, safety monitoring, and customer service as the network expands. Smart PNG meters can provide accurate billing, real-time information on gas consumption, and digital access to usage data.
EESL has experience in large-scale smart-metering projects and has implemented over 44.5 lakh smart meters across various states.
