Poh Kong Closes Record-Breaking Year with 60% Jump in Net Profit
Poh Kong Holdings Bhd, a Malaysian jewellery retailer, has closed its financial year ended July 31, 2026, on a high note. The company's fourth-quarter net profit saw a significant jump of 59.6% to RM36.20 million from RM22.68 million in the previous quarter, driven by higher gold prices that lifted margins and operating profit.
The strong quarter capped a record-breaking year for Poh Kong, with full-year net profit surging 59.7% to RM193.37 million from RM121.1 million in FY2026. The company's revenue also expanded 14.5% to RM1.93 billion from RM1.69 billion.
Poh Kong attributed its stronger performance to the surge in gold prices during the quarter, which averaged around US$4,596.44 between May and July. The company believes that strong central bank buying, consumer spending, and safe haven inflows amid global geopolitical uncertainties will continue to fuel demand for both jewellery and gold investment products.
Poh Kong has proposed a final dividend of five sen per share for FY2026, or RM20.52 million in total, up from three sen per share that amounted to RM12.31 million for FY2025. The company is confident that it has adequate measures to meet obstacles for FY2027.
