Poultry Industry Leaders Gather to Address Key Challenges at PFI AGM
The Poultry Federation of India (PFI) held its 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kochi on September 23-24, 2026. The event brought together industry leaders, professionals, researchers, veterinarians, nutritionists, policymakers, and representatives from allied businesses.
According to PFI President Ranpal Dhanda, the biggest challenges facing poultry production today include disease, feed costs, raw-material availability, and sustainable production methods.
The two-day program covered various technical subjects on Day 1, including gut health, microbial monitoring, and genetic resistance mapping. Nutrition was also a strong theme, with presentations on protein quality and the role of nutrition in poultry production.
On Day 2, the discussion focused on feed raw materials, particularly corn availability and prices. Dr Sunil Neelam from ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research presented strategies to meet the corn requirements of the poultry sector under changing circumstances.
