Power Paradox Threatens North America's LNG Boom
North America's liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector is gaining momentum as countries seek dependable energy supplies and flexibility in meeting their needs.
The demand for LNG continues to grow, with North America well-positioned to help meet that demand through new liquefaction capacity, export terminals, and supporting infrastructure.
However, the power infrastructure required to support these projects is becoming increasingly complex, constrained, and central to project success.
LNG developers can no longer treat power as a technical detail to be addressed later. Large facilities need reliable electricity for liquefaction, compression, storage, loading, controls, safety systems, and day-to-day operations.
A more proactive approach is needed, bringing the right stakeholders together earlier in the development process to clarify power needs, identify grid upgrades, and plan for long-term service and reliability.
