Prairie Connector Pipeline Could Bring Economic Activity to Saskatchewan

A proposed oil pipeline in Canada's southwest Saskatchewan region could bring new infrastructure and economic activity to the area, according to Calgary-based South Bow.

The Prairie Connector pipeline would link Alberta to the United States, with a route passing through the Swift Current and Shaunavon areas before connecting with Bridger Pipeline's proposed system in Montana.

A map released by the Alberta Energy Centre shows the proposed route, which could mean construction activity and associated economic opportunities for southwest Saskatchewan if the pipeline receives necessary approvals and moves into construction.

The project would run from Hardisty, Alta., south through the Medicine Hat area before entering southwest Saskatchewan. South Bow has secured 20-year commitments from nine customers totaling 465,000 barrels per day for the proposed pipeline.
