Prime Energy has signed an agreement to supply natural gas from the Malampaya project to the Ilijan Power Plant in Batangas. The deal, known as the Interim Natural Gas Supply Arrangement with SPPC, is expected to reduce fuel costs by approximately P0.36 per kilowatt-hour and lower electricity prices for consumers.

The supply of Malampaya gas will begin on September 1, 2026, and continue until February 25, 2027. According to Prime Energy, this arrangement can help replace more expensive imported fuel with indigenous natural gas, thereby reducing fuel costs.

Donnabel Kuizon Cruz, president and CEO of Prime Energy, stated that 'this demonstrates that indigenous Malampaya gas can help lower electricity costs for consumers while delivering reliable energy supply.' The company emphasized that the project continues to play a critical role in delivering affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy.
